Northeast Florida Medical Society Foundation

The N.E.F.M.S.F. is the not for profit entity of the Northeast Florida Medical Society. The foundation’s purpose is to increase the number of African-American students from the inner city of Duval County to pursue academic majors in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. There is an annual selection of at least 5 students who each receive a $5,000.00 scholarship to attend the 4-year college or university of their choice.

The generous support from Florida Blue Foundation of $10,000 will support two more Duval County inner-city students majoring in a S.T.E.M subject at the college of their choice. This is the third year that the Florida Blue Foundation has supported the Northeast Florida Medical Society Foundation scholarship efforts. The NEFMS has awarded $125.000 to 20 students in five years. The 2018 awards will be announced June 2, 2018. Florida Blue epitomizes the best in corporate citizenship, led locally by North Florida Market President Mr. Darnell Smith.

“Bringing health care to the underserved” is another initiative supported by the foundation. The foundation supports the annual medical mission trip to Jamaica by purchasing medicines and equipment to make the mission a success.
